Students’ Perceptions Of Enjoyable Listening Activities In A Low Exposure Efl Classroom At Mts. Zainul Irsyad
Abstract
Listening is an essential ability in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction, particularly in low-exposure settings where students have little contact with English outside of school. However, many students struggle and demonstrate low motivation as a result of boring instructional approaches and a lack of engaging activities. Previous research has emphasized learning results rather than students' impressions of fun listening activities. However, past research has rarely investigated students' perceptions in low-exposure settings. As a result, the purpose of this study is to investigate students' perceptions and determine the types of listening activities that they enjoy the most. This study used a qualitative case study approach with students from MTs. Zainul Irsyad. Data were gathered by observation, interviews, and documentation, then evaluated utilizing data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The data show that students initially have negative perceptions but respond positively to participatory activities including songs, movies, and group discussions. Finally, entertaining and participatory activities increase students' interest and drive to learn through listening.
