Abstract

English language learning in elementary school requires instructional media that can deliver meaningful, engaging, and contextual language input to support children's vocabulary development. This study examines the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a cartoon animation film  the AI-supported Bluey series  into the English language learning process of sixth-grade students at SD IT Imam Syafi'i Cendekia 2 Pekanbaru. A quantitative pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest model was employed, involving 26 sixth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through a vocabulary test administered before and after the treatment, then analyzed descriptively (mean and standard deviation) and inferentially using a paired-sample t-test with the assistance of SPSS software. The results showed that students' mean vocabulary score increased from 62.88 (SD = 18.23) on the pretest to 80.57 (SD = 11.60) on the posttest. Hypothesis testing yielded a t-test value of 7.723 with df = 25, which exceeded the t-table value at the 5% significance level, indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. These findings confirm that integrating AI with cartoon animation film has a statistically significant effect on improving students' English vocabulary mastery. The combination of authentic audiovisual input from animated cartoons with AI-supported personalization and feedback is recommended as an engaging supplementary approach for English instruction in elementary schools, provided its implementation remains guided by teachers to ensure age-appropriate content and balanced screen time.
